A human skin hydration evaluation was conducted using a cosmetic formulation containing Ceramide NP. Formulation guidelines

  • Formulation Compatibility — Ceramides are lipid-soluble ingredients commonly used in skincare formulations to support skin moisturization, skin conditioning, and barrier care. They are particularly suitable for creams, lotions, emulsions, and other lipid-containing formulations.

  • Lipid Phase Incorporation — Ceramide can be incorporated into the oil phase together with compatible oils, fatty acids, cholesterol, phytosterols, emulsifiers, and structuring agents. Compatibility and processing conditions should be optimized according to the specific formulation system.

  • Processing Temperature — For powdered or crystalline Ceramide grades, gentle heating may be used to facilitate uniform dispersion in the oil phase. A processing temperature of approximately 75–80°C may be suitable for certain grades; the recommended temperature should be confirmed according to the specific grade and formulation system.

  • Cool-Down Phase — After emulsification, heat-sensitive ingredients should be added during the cool-down phase at their recommended addition temperature. Gentle mixing is recommended to ensure uniform incorporation while maintaining formulation stability and sensory properties.

Stability ranges may vary depending on molecular weight grade, concentration, formulation matrix, and processing conditions. Final formulation stability should be confirmed through appropriate stability testing.
